Also, under Federal Law 49 CFR 391.53 for Pre Employment Screening Program, a PSP file, which is a driver investigation of history profile. Also, under Federal Law 49 CFR 392 & 396.11 for DVIR, which is a Driver Vehicle Inspection Report. This is a pre and post trip maintenance log for your vehicle. Also, under Federal Law 49 CFR 396.19 for Annual Inspector Certification. This is a safety maintenance inspection done annually by a DOT certified mechanic.
DRIVER QUALIFICATION FILE INCLUDED
Under federal law 49 CFR Part 391.51, drivers involved in commerce. You must retain verification on file of their drivers’ legal and physical ability to operate the vehicle in their class. This involves pulling a driving history, a previous employment history, a 3 year inquiry to state agencies, driver’s road test certificate, annual driver’s certificate of violations, as well as other pertinent documents relating to the specific driver’s public record. These files need to be updated yearly.
